With the NFL trade deadline approaching, the Philadelphia Eagles will likely have a few different approaches.

If the Eagles want to go back to the Super Bowl, that all starts on the defensive side of the football. The offense hasn't exactly been great all season, but Philadelphia is in a strong position on that side of the football if Saquon Barkley can get back to what he was a year ago and Jalen Hurts continues to throw the football like he did in Week 7.

While accomplishing both of those things at the same time might be difficult, Hurts is a good enough quarterback to figure things out, and Barkley is still one of the top backs in the NFL.

That leaves the defensive side of the football as an area for the Eagles to figure out, with multiple players they could go after.

According to Zach Berman of The Athletic, it sounds like that's the Eagles' biggest priority as of now. He mentioned finding a competent edge rusher to add to this unit as the Eagles' top priority, which could be an indication of things to come.

"Edge rusher should be a priority over cornerback," Berman wrote. "Howie Roseman has already made six trades since the start of training camp, so it’s not as if he has been sitting on his hands. He still has 10 projected draft picks in 2026, giving him flexibility. Pay attention to Dolphins edge rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips, both of whom have experience under defensive coordinator Vic Fangio."

Among the edge rushers that make sense, it's intriguing that he mentioned Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips because of Vic Fangio.

It's important to remember that, while they both played for Fangio during his brief stint as a defensive coordinator in Miami, the Dolphins didn't seem to love him.

Again, that could’ve been just one or two of those players who tried to make a bigger thing than what it was on social media, but I also wouldn't say that it's a guarantee that they want to go back and play for Fangio. We'll see how things unfold on that front soon, but both names would be an upgrade to what the Eagles currently have.
