I think the BBS project is great, and has immense potential. 
Having said that, the biggest criticism I have is as follows: it is too reliant on other blockchain innovations whose certainty of survival is not guaranteed. 
Namely: EOS and Ethereum. The fact of that matter is that if, for any reason, one of these Networks fail, BBS will. 
This is my number one criticism of BBS.
