To do so, ask yourself these questions: 1) Who am I writing for? 2) What do I want from them? 3) What information do they ne ited before they will give me what I want? 4) How can I make this process as easy and enjoyable as possible for the reader? Once you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve and why, you can make sure everything in your piece of content supports that goal; if it doesn't, remove it. Now that you're clear on what the reader needs, share that information in an accessible way. Use vivid language and examples, and use a voice that's appropriate for your audience. If they're looking for information on how to get a job post-college, you might use a more formal tone than if you're trying to sell them on some new sneakers. Lastly, don't forget about grammar! Even though written communication has become more informal in recent years, it's still important to follow the rules of grammar when writing professionally. Are your blog posts stagnant? Do you want to add new life to them? Do you want to encourage engagement and generate a buzz around your work? You can do that with a few simple changes. Avoid using first person pronouns like I and we. This takes the focus off of you and puts it on your audience. Your readers don't need to know how great you are; they want to know what's in it for them. Let your writing speak for itself by focusing on your reader, not yourself. Use shorter sentences where possible. Dense, overstuffed sentences are hard to read and harder to process, especially online. Cut out unnecessary words and phrases whenever you can. Watch out for passive voice. Passive voice removes the subject of the sentence from its role as "actor" and instead makes it the "receiver" of action, which is often vague or unstated. Passive voice is more common in academic writing than in blog posts, but it's still something that you should watch out for as a blogger.

It’s like a top-10 list with the number one answer being “be better at it.” But how does that work? How do you actually go about doing that? Well, for starters, you could keep reading this article and learn some copywriting techniques. Or you can check out other articles on our site — we’ve got plenty of them. But most importantly, you should read as much as possible and practice what you learn as often as possible. Here’s a step-by-step process we recommend: 1) Take a piece of writing (ideally something similar to what you want to write). It could be an ad, blog post, podcast transcript, or whatever really — just make sure it’s something fairly short so it doesn’t take too long to analyze. 2) Read the whole thing WITHOUT taking notes or highlighting anything. Here's a quick-technique for crafting a question that will get you honest, actionable feedback from your readers. The first step is to put yourself in your reader's shoes. Imagine what questions they'll have after reading your draft. Maybe they're confused about the order of steps or are having trouble understanding a complicated concept. Those are good questions to ask, because if one person had trouble with it, chances are others will too. (Even if there's only one person who has trouble, that's one too many.) Now here's the important part: You don't want to ask those questions directly. After all, they're reading your writing—not the other way around! It would be odd (not to mention time-consuming) for them if they had to figure out what parts of your writing were unclear and then tell you how to fix them. If it's excitement, take it in small steps—what could be exciting about this product? What's exciting about you? Is there a story that could be told here? And finally...don't forget that your post is supposed to generate an emotion. Whether it's excitement or fear or sadness or any other feeling, remember that something has to happen in this post for your audience to care about it!
