Some suggestions after a few days using the Follow feature

Hi all! I was one of the many asking for the Follow feature and I am grateful to have it. After trying it I have two observations and their corresponding proposal for changes: 1.- Once you follow someone, you are getting spammed with a notification every time the followed person interacts in any way. This is too many notifications. If we cannot firmar that from the notifications pane, could we not have a menu to define what is it that you want to follow from this user (like a drop down that allows to follow new posts, comments or reactions). Alternatively this could be a general setting in your own profile. 2.- The other thing is that if you follow someone, you follow her on all of the boards she may be posting, while you may be interested in one or two only. So, instead of following a user, I would propose to follow a user/board. Sep 12, 2022

Suggestion: multiple selections on notifications drop down menu

Dear devs: I would like to have a way of permanently showing the notifications that are relevant to me. Especially if you follow people you get notified on everything they do. I will give a couple of solution proposals for the follow feature in a later post. Still, being able to see just the notifications of comments on your posts, and newly written posts of the people you follow would be awesome. As soon as volume picks up or as soon as you follow 10 active users your notification pane becomes unmanageable. Here below an example of how this drop down menu could look likeSep 11, 2022

New error trying to load pictures on posts with an iPhone

Hi all, I feel like with time, loading pictures on posts (I am mainly using an iPhone for posting), is becoming more cumbersome. Especially when copying a page to the clipboard and pasting it by long click-paste. The safe alternative has always been copying the picture to the camera roll and adding it by the add picture functionality of the post editor. Well, until now. I got an error message by trying to use this functionality, that I never got before: It looks like there is some kind of image format incompatibility. Can you pls take a look into it?Sep 11, 2022

Draft post getting lost more now than before… what I do about it

Hi all,  If there is one feature that everyone have asked for is the ability to save a draft post. Knowing that you can hide a written post, I think this one would not be that different and hence easy to program. In the last weeks I have seen that the problem of writing a draft post, leaving it there and seeing how it disappears when you go back, as the page decides to refresh by itself, is getting worse. In the past it was only happening if you were changing the network, or if you were refreshing bbs on a different page in the same browser. Now, you wrote something and as soon as you leave the page, all of your work is lost. This is what I do -while the problem is resolved-: I publish the post and immediately hide it. You can go back any time, edit the post, and then unhide it. The only setback is that the post keeps its spot in the timeline that it had at the time of the first publication. Follow feature done in the right way

Hi all,  The one thing I like of the follow feature is that it does not filter your timeline. If you are on Twitter, Instagram or LinkeIn, your timeline is shaped by the people you follow. Here the timeline is common for everyone and you just get notified when the one you follow has written a new post. This is consistent with bbs view: you are member of a board because you are interested in the topic. Hence, you get to see all content. The follow feature might not show its usefulness with low number of posts… but for the ones that were here prior to the great reset, we know that with 1000 posts per day you want to make sure you have a tool that allows you not to miss out on your favorite content creators.Sep 5, 2022

A feature that is missing in bbs

Hi all! Almost all traditional social media platforms have a specific feature that is missing in bbs: The algorithmic content recommendation One of the things every social network wants you to do once you have logged in is to make you stay as much as possible. No matter if we talk LinkedIn (that proposes you other users that may be known by you I order to expand your network and enrich the content you have access to), or Facebook (that proposes you other users that could be friends of you), or Spotify (that has an algorithm to propose you music based on what you heard, or Twitter (that proposes you users or popular tweets based on what you read and follow)… I could go on and on with examples, but the point os clear: the majority of the social networks have an algorithm working in offering you content that os suited to what you like in order to increase internal traffic. BBS does not have such an algorithm: I think it would be nice to have the system suggesting you boards, or specific content creators or specific posts, to push current users to explore what they still don’t know about bbs.  Is there anything of that sort foreseen to be added?Aug 28, 2022

What content should be allowed in bbs?

Hi all, I have read with great interest a post about inviting an influencer that seems to have been banned in many web 2 social networks. There are two aspects to talk into consideration: the ethical and the economical. Both are interrelated. From an ethical standpoint, there are topics that have already been banned: back in December I remember quite a fear boards that started with nudity and even porn. They were banned and rules were issued to regulate what content was absolutely not allowed. Since then I don't recall any further update of those policies. As bbs grows the issue will become more complex. What is ethically unacceptable for all, and what are opinions that are legitimate even if against the majority? Having a board of a certain political orientation is offensive to people that have a different one? It is a slippery topic. I am moderately optimistic here. Bbs will be dependant on the advertisers. Many will not come if certain content is published here... unless the board structure helps to segment advertisers as well, and (to put a stupid example), a gun manufacturer may be willing to place advertising on a hunting board, while a pet food advertisers, or WWF may want to place advertising on a board for dog lovers...Aug 27, 2022

Bug in Staking page... why I cannot claim or restake?

Hi admins and devs,  I am trying to restake my bbs coming from previous quarters, and although I can see in the claimable amount that I have got 12K bbs that are claimable, when I see at the contracts, you can see that the buttons to claim and to restake are not active. Looking at the estimated rewards for the next quarter, you can see that the total estimated for the 2nd and 3rd contract are about the same 12k that I have as claimable rewards (which makes sense). One small correction has been recently added

Dear devs, I would like to THANK YOU for the modification in the way the profile page behaves. I was asking for this change not so long ago, and it’s there now! Now, when you are in the profile and click on any of the boards in the drop down menu, you are directed to the profile view of the chosen board and not to the board itself. Here is my request from the past: Now it’s working as suggested. I feel the dev team is very responsive and is putting quite some effort to iron out the page. Let’s hope the marketing team is as responsive as the dev team is being to the suggestions that are coming up in this board. 🙃Aug 24, 2022

A powerful marketing weapon may be available… do bbs investors dare to use it?

Hi all, It’s marketing time: we have a model and a clear value proposition, a quite polished webpage, and apparently we are very close to having a very cool app. It’s time to risk on the marketing front. And, yes, bbs has a very powerful tool… if one of the main bbs investors is ready to bet everything on bbs:  Would it not now the right time to list bbs in Binance? If this is done right after the app release, and with the platform ready to rock, attention would be put on bbs, presumably the bbs token price would go up, with it the excitement of the people that are already in, and the prospects of future benefits would definitely attract new users. An agreement with a few influencers to come over and a good campaign on digital media would do the rest.  Will Binance dare to take this step or is one of the main investors still not convinced that bbs will make it as a project?Aug 23, 2022

Question about extending and restaking ... before I do something wrong

Hi all, I have come bbs stoked from the start. As atrial I only staked for 3 quarters. Now I have Some interest that I want to restobe, but before that, I would like to extend the duration of the staking. As you can see in the picture, I clicked on the extend button, chase the amount of quarters, and now I am getting a " Stake" button.  1. shall I first click on stake, and then on restake to get the interest obtained so for into the extended contract ? 2. will I then need to pay ETH gas fees twice ? 3. will it work at all? (Meaning by that, can I restake on the newly extended contract?) I hope anyone can help meAug 21, 2022

Why I will again stake my bbs

Hi all, I am staking every quarter what I have earned on bbs. With an APR of over 100%, if you apply the booster, it is the best way of making passive income. Here are my numbers:  In order to cash out to an ETH wallet you need to pay 340 bbs to cash your bbs out to an ETH wallet. At the current exchange rate,340 bbs is a bit more than 6 USD. After that, you need to pay ETH gas fees to stake your tokens from the ETH wallet to the bbs page. You can get on Sundays a gas fee of about 0,0015 ETH… about 3 USD. Si, you are paying less than 10 bucks, and APR stay at 100%, if you have 6000 bbs, in about a month and a half you are paying back the fees. You can also wait for ETH merge, and for bbs to drop their flat rate of 340 bbs for gas fees to adapt to the (hopefully) much lower ETH gas fees after the merge. Depending on how many bbs you have you can decide one or the other. Based on the above calculations, the breaking point is at about 6500 bbs. Below this number of tokens you may want to wait. For over 6500, you may prefer to wait… and accumulate a bit more. Aug 19, 2022

How much more adoption we need to make bbs attractive to professional content creators

Hi all,  Some of the posters here have been discussing (me as well) the possibility of attracting people that have a community already behind to make bbs grow. I think this is a great approach. Many of us came as part of the Banter family and are now spread across many boards (… and some are board owners of quite successful boards as well). Now, how much needs bbs to grow in order to be attractive for a “professional” content creator? Say that a content creator wants to make 1000 bucks net, and needs to pay 20% taxes. So, 1200 per month. If you work 8 hours and need 20 minutes to create a good post (I need more but I expect a pro to be better than me). You could make 24 posts per day. If you work 22 days per month, you can create 528 posts per month. I would expect these to be spread across different boards. Now, knowing that you pay 10% for cash out, you need to make gross 1334 $ a month, on the 528 posts created. So, you need to make 2.52$ per post on average. Current averages at 50 CPM in the best boards are between 1.2 (metabbs) and 0.7 (several of the top boards). You can see the calculations in this post Hence we need an adoption three times bigger than what we have now, provided that the current 50CPM boost is kept. With time, when the boost is over we would need to multiply by five the adoption, in order to be self sustainable at a CPM of 10, which is in line with the advertising market.  I think tripling the current adoption levels is very reachable. You clearly have to have a passion if you are posting…

Hi all,  If I want to write an acceptable quality post, it takes me about 30 to 60 minutes, from generating an idea, writing about it and replying the interactions of the post. An average post gets about 24 impressions.This is at the current CPM of 50, 1.2 USD for 45 minutes of work. Hence you are getting less than 2 bucks an hour. In my case, I clearly do this because I like it, and of course appreciate the bbs coins I make on the way. … and of course count on the bbs token price to go up in the future… In a sense I think this is a type of earning strategy that is compatible with the current bbs expectations: If there is a small economic incentive, the users should perceive it as an advantage… in the right proportion. Aug 16, 2022

Small suggestion to the members search results

Dear devs, First of al THANK YOU for the search functionality enhancements. The member search and the board search function are long awaited features. I tried looking for myself in the member search page ( and, yes I am a member of bbs 🤪🤪🤪), and found that you put the profile description (great!), and a few boards… great as well. I know it will be cumbersome if you list all of the boards… but would it not make a bit more of sense to list the last used or the one with more reputation points or anything that is related with the boards the user is more active with? Is this a bug? At least it is a counterintuitive behavior

Hi all! When I go to my profile, the figures shown are related to the board I am on. When I go to the boards drop down menu and click on a different board, I would expect to stay on my profile but now I expect to see the numbers related to the board I am selecting  In the above example I am on my profile and I can see the metabbs info. If I select sportX, I would expect to get to the sportx profile page. Instead of that I get to the SportX board.  Should this not be changed? (I hope the explanation is clear enough…)Aug 14, 2022

Time to shift gears!

Hi all! I see from time to time some quite good suggestions to improve bbs ( like kbloemen’s post below). I have some suggestions (probably not that useful 😂)… but I think it is now time to shift the efforts to a different area. BBS page is quite user friendly. Of course it can be further improved… but what is the priority now? Strategy is not only about what to do, but also what NOT to do. The fort now should be in increasing adoption. So… How much increase of adoption we can expect from an improved notification system, or better editing features? In the contrary, accelerating the app, developing and executing a good strategy to attract new users and content creators, and incentivize the growing boards, would definitely be a better bang for the buck. It is time to shift gears and concentrate in getting more people into this great community. Aug 12, 2022

Hi all! As an addition to @ individi last post... If you are thinking of leaving became you want to get some money for posting good content, don't leave! There are plenty of opportunities out there in other boards.  I participate in some other boards, and I can say that for the ones that want to make some money, this are the advantages I see moving on to other boards: How to know what boards will allow you to earn money ? There is a few things to take into account: How much can I get per post in each board? there is a simple table of impressions per post, and how much money you would get ?per post at the current 50CPM  Today, still the highest average revenue per post is in Metabbs. Satin has a higher price, but they are not active. other boards are coming in close ( charts, SportX, MWATALK)... and it's easier to write a good post on these boards. Each of you will need to see. Staying around here in metabbs writing something every day and getting frustrated because you are not becoming a partner is not the only way. There are smart alternatives...Aug 11, 2022

The attention market

Hi all, First of all, I would like to state that I want bbs to succeed. I have been around for 9 months now and I love the project. Now my concerns: There is a concept that was created not many years ago, that I like a lot: the attention market. Like any other market, the market of attention is somehow finite: it is made of 16 hours per day times all the people in the world, say from 15 years onwards. A subset of that is the market of digital attention: all of the hours that everyone in the world is hooked up in internet. There are many attempts to grow this market: cheaper internet access, mobile devices, even auto piloted cars. Currently the market of digital attention is quite mature and saturated: if you want to spend time in a new social network, you need to take it out from something (digital) else. If bbs wants to grow, this has to come mainly at the cost of eating up (digital attention) market share from other social media or games or something else. Hence, bbs is not creating market, it is fighting for an already taken market. In order to succeed in this scenario, you just need to be better than others. Hence, for a normal user : what is the bbs value proposition that is better than the other social media? Maybe I am too old fashioned, but the web3 narrative for an average user is futile. Help me understanding what am I not getting here. The other thing was money and the fact that you were buying posts that you could convert into an NFT eventually. Now only a small portion is making small money, but the majority will not earn money… and the NFT thing is also no longer there.  So, what is the difference with Reddit? Now that the money thing is gone, that you are no longer buying posts, I am missing a clear differentiation strategy… unless there are continued events to support and incentivize non partnered members and simple readers. If we are going to compete on content quality, then current paid content creators have to find it economically attractive to move from their current social media to bbs. Am I missing anything important?Aug 10, 2022
