I'm a bit late with the entry due to some unexpected errors but still posting it, I have been testing out minds for about 5 days now, not to mention @peterbllee has also made a great post about minds covering deeply about their economics and jury, so I'll try not to cover the same things

1. First I'd like to talk about what I noticed about minds that's similar with other platforms
Bbs is often quoted as a decentralised version of reddit due to the main similarity that you can be a part of different communities with different sets of rules decided by specific community admins and not under a single main authority.
For minds this is completely different and I have noticed that it uses the basic instagram UI

with the same order of functions and a feature called moments which is basically similar to instagram stories

And one more feature which I found is familiar is an option called remind which functions as a button to repost or retweet, found in both twitter and facebook commonly. Eventhough minds has a lot similarity with other mainstream platforms I wouldn't agree that the functionality of minds is similar to them, from what I experienced I find minds plays a completely different game compared to others
2. Earning
Earning on bbs has now become a bit hard compared to what we had prior but if you can post quality and engaging content, you can pretty much earn a decent amount for the amount of work you put in if you get partnered.
But minds has a completely different system in place and inorder to start earning you should be a minds pro or plus member

Which costs around 7 dollar to 50 dollar monthly which you should pay either in cash or mind tokens to unlock earning through posts and through activity, minds use a system where your daily activities are measured from both posts, interacting and logging in activity and a certain number of mind tokens are rewarded to each user from a share of revenue. Another way to earn without spending anything is to get tipped which doesn't happen most of the times, unless your post takes a place in the trending or top posts tab, which is pretty hard for beginners as minds works on followers and posts are only shown to people who follow you or to people who follow hashtags if you include hashtags in your post and are not displayed on a single homepage like bbs where all the posts are available for everyone to read
3. Readability and rules
Bbs has a set of guidelines which we should follow inorder for the post to not get hidden like posting things relevant to the community you are posting in or having context and not limiting the post to a few lines, or creating communities which spread hate or explicit materialWhereas, Minds has this differently and you can post basically anything in any manner as it doesn't limit anything or hides posts. To my surprise many of the posts in trending are just pictures with captions and you can also find content that are explicit upto an extent
4. Viewership
I have been posting one post a day for a few days and to my surprise I'm actually getting quite good views without any followers currently

which goes to show that eventhough begginers post are not shown in the main page of certain hashtags you post about but if you use the right hashtags and people with good following remind your post it's likely to get a good viewership. Also there's option to boost your post for making it visible to a large audience and getting a guaranteed number of views but they charge 1 mind token per thousand views they generate on your post, which is a feature available on most of the mainstream media platforms
5.Interacting outside of posts
Bbs basically provide two options to interact with others without the means of posting which messaging and live chat, which are inbuilt in bbs but in the case of minds they provide an external app called minds chat which you can use use to chat with users of mind either directly or via groups, with encryption promised.
Another thing which bbs don't have at this point in messaging features, which minds has is making private video calls with others and creating chatrooms to discuss about topics a certain group of people who are interested in it can join and contribute
6. Wallet function
Bbs currently have wallet function for cashed out tokens but doesn't allow an internal wallet with personal seed phrase but minds provides an option for making both onchain and bank transactions possible and you are able to add address for receiving both minds and bitcoin and also cashout your tokens as cash to bank accounts, which I'm not sure of the purpose of implementation as crypto is supposed to be decentralised and giving payouts directly to bank without any middle exchange involved seems unfamiliar

Is minds or bbs better?
Is minds or bbs better? It depends on the way you see it if you want a platform where you can post anything and everything minds might be a good choice as I don't see much moderation of content there but if you are looking for readability of posts or user friendly content bbs does the job better without a doubt. Earning on minds also seems quite impossible if you are not ready to spend money to take subscriptions, I wouldn't completely agree with the ways with which mind operates but still a large number of people on twitter prefer it and that's why minds is still a choice among them after Facebook and Twitter
