The story of The Pianist is based on the personal experience of Wladyslaw Szpilman. He is a Jewish who worked as a pianist in his youth. He was living in Warsaw when the Nazis attacked and invaded the city in 1939. The screenplay for this film was adapted from Szpilman's memoirs. The problem with the movie for me is the lack of a convincing structure to the events . The best movies, for me, are those that depict the hero engaged in a metaphorical journey and having some choices about the “paths” he may choose to follow. But in the story of The Pianist,, Szpilman, is relatively passive. Things happen only to him, he never appears to be present in any situations, nor can he choose one of several optional paths to take. All we see is a perpetual victim who has managed to survive a catastrophic, life-threatening situation time and time again through pure luck. Szpilman's enemies are cruel and ultimately mysterious. They are like unfathomable dark forces beyond our comprehension. Thanks to Brody and his excellent performance ,His Oscar was really deserved ,I personally believe acting strength is much easier than acting weakness. I sympathized with him in almost every scene of the movie. The most beautiful thing of all is that Brody had to enter a stage of challenge with himself , Learning piano! learning Polish and lost almost fifteen kilos . From the beginning of the movie to the end of the movie, you will see his personality completely different. Now we come to the music aspect, despite the name of the movie is The Pianist, but there aren't much singing or musical scenes during the movie . The playing was specific and played at very essential times , but many scenes in the film returned without any background sound. Many movies and many directors use music to escalate the drama in order to start to frighten ,ect.. . The pianist Stayed away from this completely. Most of the scenes were filmed without sound, just the sound of destruction, whether it was far away, the sound of walking steps, or the sound of throwing things. It keeps you focused on every event while watching on the road. This music burns on you. No one knows the event that will happen now. It will be action. It will be drama. It will be a romantic . sad, and you know the scene. no one knows , only the vents can tell you !The Pianist was adapted from the autobiography of a Polish pianist called The German Thieves. This musician wrote his autobiography immediately after the end of the World War. For the people and for the critics this added to it an aspect of credibility because after the Wars in general many people wrote their autobiographies twenty to thirty years later, and they complained about the accuracy of the events that happened. It is possible for someone to forget or be dazzled by some of the events in his stories about the events that happened in World War II.Thanks for reading !Please avoid tagging in the comments , the movie club was announced for weeks now , everyone is aware of it by now , the post will be pinned too , anyone interested will surely join the discussion without a tag, Thanks for understanding !
