The BBS network and bbs.market are not equivalent. If you share any private data with bbs.market or other operator you can reasonably expect that this is kept private and safe within the terms and conditions of the platform. The media files are stored on Google Firebase Storage so the privacy and security of those files falls under their policies.

The BBS network itself is not private. Everything is on the public blockchain. Every post, comment and every edit you ever made to them is publicly available on the blockchain along with all your BBS transactions and earnings.

There is some anonymity presently if an account is not linked to other identified social media accounts and no cash out is made to a centralized exchange or identifiable wallet and VPN is used to interact with the site.  Linking to your other social media accounts or cashing out to a centralized exchange or identifiable wallet removes that protection.

It is good to keep the public nature of the blockchain in mind when we are creating posts. I can delete or edit or hide content I have created but that will only remove it from view on the bbs.market platform. It is still on the blockchain in the original transaction.

Some level of self-censorship can be beneficial so that we don't harm ourselves in the future. Within each board's guidelines, it is the responsibility of each individual creator to find their own comfort level with respect to self-censorship and to be aware of and accept that there are consequences of what they post both now and in future. BBS network content is truly "forever" content (that is until some disaster wipes it out). It is an unfortunate fact of life, like it or not, that we need to use our public face/persona for certain activities.
