Love secures another prestigious honor, cementing his place in Notre Dame history. His record-breaking season rewrites the record books for Irish running backs.

Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love has picked up yet another very important All-American honor, this time from Sporting News. While Love has been named to over 100 first-team All-America teams, the honor from Sporting News is crucial because it's the fourth of five All-America teams that determine consensus and unanimous All-America honors.

Notre Dame has not had a consensus All-American at running back since Vagas Ferguson earned that back in 1979, and not since Nick Eddy back in 1966 has the Irish program had a unanimous All-American. Love also won the Doak Walker Award, which goes annually to the nation's top running back. He is the first Notre Dame back to ever win that prestigious award.

Love was truly outstanding for Notre Dame in the 2025 season, racking up 1,372 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns while averaging an impressive 6.9 yards per carry. His 1,372 rushing yards ranked fourth in college football, his 18 rushing touchdowns ranked second in the nation and his yards per carry average was second in the country among backs with at least 150 carries. Love also hauled in 27 passes for 280 yards and three more touchdowns. Love's 1,652 yards from scrimmage ranked third in the country and his 21 total touchdowns was second in college football this season.

The St. Louis native was also a highlight machine for the Irish all season. Whether it was ridiculous spin moves on his way to touchdowns, his spectacular touchdown run against Navy or just using his elite vision and speed to turn small creases into long touchdowns, Love was certainly an entertaining player.

He will also leave Notre Dame as one of its most prolific players. Love's 1,372 yards on the ground was the fourth best single-season mark in program history and his 18 touchdowns tied for the most ever. His 21 total touchdowns broke the record of 20 that was previously held by legendary back Jerome Bettis. His 1,652 total yards (rushing and receiving) was the third best single season mark for the Irish. Love gashed rival USC to the tune of 228 yards on just 24 carries. That set a Notre Dame record for an Irish back inside Notre Dame Stadium. Love ended his Notre Dame career with 42 total touchdowns, which is the third best career mark in program history.

Love rushed for at least 100 yards in 11 different games over the last two seasons. During this season, Love rushed for at least 20 yards on a carry 11 times, matching the mark he had in 2024. Both are tied for the sixth-best single mark in Notre Dame history. Love is the only player to rank in the Top 10 twice in runs of 20 yards or more.

What makes this more impressive is that Love also split carries to a degree with Jadarian Price, helping to form the best one-two running back punch in college football the last two seasons.
