Much like Week 1 of the NFL season, Ohio State alumni again found themselves all over the highlight reels after Week 2 action wrapped up. Former Buckeyes are making the case that not only does Ohio State produce the best wide receivers in football, but they also produce the best football players in the game -- period.
From rookies to veterans, Buckeyes all over the NFL were making their presence known on Sunday.
Emeka Egbuka has been the feel-good story to start the 2025 NFL season. He was drafted to the perfect team to be not only a contributing factor, but a star player in the NFL. He followed his two-touchdown Week 1 with another stellar performance against CJ Stroud's Houston Texans.
Egbuka finished the game with only four catches but found paydirt for the third time this season. He took another Baker Mayfield's screen pass into the end zone to give the Tampa Bay Buccaneers an early lead that turned into a 20-19 victory on ESPN's Monday Night Football. He is tied for the league lead with three touchdown catches in the early going.
The College Football Playoff National Championship star suited up for his first NFL game on Sunday and did not disappoint.
After his legal dispute, Quinshon Judkins put the pads on once before his first start for the Cleveland Browns this past Sunday, but no one was able to tell. Judkins carried the ball 10 times for 61 yards and made three catches for 10 yards.
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost in an incredibly disappointing fashion on Sunday, but it wasn't Jack Sawyer's fault. The former Buckeye showed why he is on the big stage, registering his first career NFL sack.
Sawyer finished the game with six tackles, four of which were solo stops, and his sack kept the Pittsburgh Steelers in the game. It wasn't enough for the victory, but Sawyer proved his worth.
Ohio State Buckeyes: Key Focus for Bye Week | Stock Rising for One Buckeye | Prepping for TOUGH Test
The Ohio State Buckeyes roll into the Bye Week feeling great about where they are at with a ton of room to improve. They are 3-0 and ranked as the Number 1 t...
Josh Simmons was flawless against the reigning champion Philadelphia Eagles. In 38 pass-blocking snaps, he surrendered zero pressures and had a pass-blocking grade of 87.8, according to Pro Football Focus. He has quickly become the protector of Patrick Mahomes.
Simmons' pass blocking stats hardly touched his big moment, however. On a pass that caromed off Travis Kelce's hands into the waiting arms of Eagles cornerback Andrew Mukuba, Simmons became the last line of defense against the speedy defensive back. He chased him down to prevent a touchdown.
Veteran defensive lineman Cam Heyward is out there still doing it for the Steelers. Heyward is in his 14th season in the NFL and is still proving to be a key piece.
Early in the third quarter of the Steelers' loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Sam Darnold was on a naked bootleg to his left as Heyward was right in his face. Darnold tried to float one over his head, but Heyward got a piece of it and deflected the football in the air, leading to an interception. That deflection went along with five combined tackles for the savvy vet.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba did it again on Sunday for Seattle, finishing a win in Pittsburgh with eight catches for 103 yards. Thus far this year, he has 17 catches for 227 yards.
Despite having yet to score a touchdown, Smith-Njigba trails only Malik Nabers for the most yards and Puka Nacua for the most catches. JSN is off to a great start in the 2025 season.
Ohio State proved once more that it produces some of the best players in the NFL. It feels like a broken record to talk about how good all of the Buckeyes were every Sunday.
