It will be 25 days between games for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and those long, extended layoffs can be very challenging for a group of ball players that just want to get out there and play some football.
That is absolutely the case for this Ohio State Buckeyes' team, as they basically went through another Fall Camp over the past month. The three and a half weeks off between games is great for healing up any injuries, but it makes for a long month of December.
The wait, however, is finally over, and the players are excited to get back on the field. Star guard Luke Montgomery commented during Monday's media day in Dallas that they are ready to go.
"I'm really ready. I'm sick of playing our D-Line. I told KJ (Kenyatta Jackson Jr.) yesterday, 'Hey, I love you, but I'm tired of seeing your face and blocking you. It will be good to see some new faces and play some new guys."-
Montgomery said exactly what everyone on that Buckeyes team is feeling at this point in the layoff. The wide receivers are sick of the defensive backs, so are the quarterbacks, the running backs are tired of the linebackers, and the lines hate seeing each other, and vice versa.
It's not a bad thing; it's more so a cabin fever thing, where the team is just ready for some fresh blood to get after in the quarterfinals.
Montgomery wasn't the only Buckeye sharing his thoughts on Monday. Star linebacker Arvell Reese shared a similar sentiment but is looking for a different outcome than Montgomery. While Luke wants a fresh face to pancake, Reese wants to get out of Dallas as soon as possible.
"We landed here, we have to handle business, and then get up out of here. This is no place we really want to be. We are trying to do what we have to do and get up out of here."-
That's two young men who are on a serious mission for war against Miami. Montgomery is tired of sharpening his sword against his own guys, while Reese appears to be seeing red and just wanting to accomplish the goal and find out who is next in their way.
They are close. Only two more practices left for this team before they get to lace them up against the Miami Hurricanes on New Year's Eve at 7:30 PM EST.
