Not many things are scarier than the talented playmaker; except for maybe the wide receiver on the opposite side of the football field. The only scarier thing is an angry Smith, and he is fired up to take on his hometown team, the Miami Hurricanes.
Smith quickly became the best wide receiver in college football last season as a true freshman that reigns from Chaminade-Madonna High School in Hollywood, FL, just 30 minutes from downtown Miami.
Smith had several soundbites from his media availability on Monday. He started by commenting on the fanbase being stuck on the 2003 National Championship game, he talked about the chippiness that he expects and how the Buckeyes have something else ready for them on New Year's Eve.
Smith is the most feared weapon in all of college football. Last year, during just the Buckeyes' playoff run, he compiled 19 catches, 381 yards, and five touchdowns.
The lasting memory of the playoff run was his 9 catch 187 187-yard two-touchdown game against Oregon in the Rose Bowl, followed up with the National Championship sealing 3rd and 11.
Heading into this year's playoffs, Smith is again playing at a top-tier level. He also admitted on Monday that he had been playing through a quad contusion all season long, and even with that injury, he put up career bests of 80 catches, 1,086 yards, and 11 touchdowns, all while missing a game and a half due to his injury.
His biggest games this year came against Ohio University, Penn State, and Purdue, where he just tore the opponents apart. In those three games, he combined for 25 catches for 419 yards and four scores. His impact on the Buckeyes' offense this year can't go understated, as he has a gravitational pull every time he is on the field.

Now that Smith gets his first opportunity against the Hurricanes, he is going to leave nothing to chance.
