3 Matchups That Will Determine if Packers Can Beat Bears in Week 14 cover image

Can the Green Bay Packers neutralize the Chicago Bears' powerful run game and pressure Caleb Williams? These three critical matchups hold the key to Week 14 victory.

This is a big one. It's perhaps the biggest matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears in quite time some.

In fact, you can make the case that this game between the 8-3-1 Packers and 9-3 Bears is the biggest head-to-head game these two bitter rivals have played since the 2013 season finale.

In that game, the Packers and Bears squared off to see who would win the NFC North at Soldier Field, and we all remember how that one ended up:

Heck, while we're at it, let's remember this time, when a few years later, Rodgers and Cobb ripped the heart out of Bears fans everywhere again:

Yup, that's what we love about this Packers-Bears rivalry. Especially if you're a fan of Green Bay, you've been on the winning side of some incredible moments.

This 2025 Chicago team is no joke, though. The Bears aren't just the top team in the NFC North, but they're the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC as it currently stands.

The Packers control their own destiny, though, and they can flip the script by winning this game at Lambeau.

If the Packers want to win, and they do, they'll have to win these three matchups within the game.

Quay Walker and Edgerrin Cooper vs. Kyle Monangai and D'Andre Swift

You've got to give the Bears credit. They've got the second-best rushing attack in the NFL in terms of yards per game on the ground (153.8) and head coach Ben Johnson has replicated the ground-and-pound success he had as offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions.

In Detroit, he had a lethal one-two punch of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. In Chicago, he's been leaning on rookie Kyle Monangai (591 yards and five touchdowns) and veteran D'Andre Swift (774 yards and five touchdowns).

They're a two-headed monster, but the Packers have one of those of their own on the defensive side of the ball.

Edgerrin Cooper and Quay Walker are one and two on the Packers in tackles, respectively, and they both know how to read the run, fly to the football, and make the tackle (oftentimes for loss).

Cooper and Walker have the power to completely neutralize Chicago's rushing attack.

Packers' star pass-rusher Micah Parsons vs. Bears' star QB Caleb Williams

The Bears have to feel happy about what they've seen from Caleb Williams this season. He's thrown for 2,722 yards and 17 touchdowns compared to five interceptions in his second NFL season. He's also a threat to use his legs, as he's rushed for 306 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Williams is an elite athlete as a quarterback, but there's one athlete better than him in this matchup and that's Micah Parsons.

Parsons has the closing power to make Williams' ability to scramble around in the pocket obsolete.

If and when Parsons gets pressure on Williams, that will also bring out some of the young quarterback's bad habits. Though he has been good in 2025, he's completed only 53.2% of his passes over the past five games.

Look at the whole season, and you'll see he's the worst quarterback in the NFL in passing accuracy, checking in with a completion percentage of just 58.1%.

Parsons is a game-wrecker, and he could single-handedly stop Williams and the Bears' offense.

Jordan Love vs. Kevin Byard III

Jordan Love hasn't thrown an interception in his last four games and he's thrown just one in his last seven. He's playing football at a very high level and with a few more good games, he very well could find himself in the NFL's MVP conversation.

Meanwhile, veteran Chicago safety Kevin Byard III is having a tremendous year. He lead the NFL with six interceptions on the season and he's notched a pick in two of Chicago's last three games.

The Packers have proven that if they take care of the football and minimize turnovers, they can be the best team in the NFC. In the meantime, the Bears have proven they can be a contender in the NFC if they take away the football on defense.

One of these things will give on Sunday, and if Love and the Packers win this matchup, they'll win the game.
