The Green Bay Packers are on a two-game losing streak and will be taking on a New York Giants team that is making a lot of changes.
The Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll earlier this week, with offensive coordinator Mike Kafka taking over as the interim head coach. New York is now expected to start quarterback Jameis Winston on Sunday over Russell Wilson.
Rookie first-round pick Jaxson Dart has been the starter, but he suffered a concussion in the Giants' loss to the Chicago Bears.
Winston has yet to start or play in a game for New York, but is known as a gun-slinger at quarterback. The 31-year-old appeared in 12 games, starting in seven for the Cleveland Browns in the 2024 season.
In those games, Winston completed 61.1 percent of his passes for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown.
New York's offense will look different than it would've with Dart or Wilson. With Dart, the Giants were leaning on his rushing ability. However, with Winston, it will be more of a traditional passing attack.
There could also be some changes in playcalling, as Kafka takes over for Daboll.
With all of these changes, it will be harder for Green Bay to come in with a defensive gameplan. However, the Packers have a talented defense led by Micah Parsons that has performed at a high level under defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.
The problem for Green Bay has been its inconsistent offense. In the last two weeks, the Packers put up 13 points against the Carolina Panthers and seven against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Even if Green Bay limits the Giants' offense, they will need their offense to step up. In their loss to the Eagles, Jordan Love completed 55.6 percent of his passes for 176 yards and no touchdowns.
Their rushing attack wasn't much better, with Josh Jacobs finishing with 74 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.
If LaFleur can't get the offense going, it won't matter how well Green Bay's defense plays against Winston and the new-look Giants offense.
