The Green Bay Packers' 2025 season feels like it hangs in the balance. Heck, the 2026 season is starting to feel a bit foggy as well. Superstar pass-rusher Micah Parsons went down in the third quarter of Green Bay's game against the Denver Broncos with a non-contact knee injury.
At current time, there is not an update on Parsons, but it didn't look good. Anytime an elite athlete who is known for quick-twitch athleticism goes down in this type of way, you have to immediately start thinking about a season-ending injury.
Parsons seemed to be thinking the same thing from his initial reaction to the injury.
If there is any good news here for the Packers, it's that Parsons at the very least was able to walk off the field. If it was a catastrophic injury there's a good chance they would have taken him off the field via a cart, so Packers fans can hold on to a bit of hope.
Still, if you watch the moment in which Parsons was injured, you can almost see the "pop" that has become indicated of an ACL or MCL injury.
That's not to say that will be the case, because we are not doctors making this diagnosis. A wealth of experience watching players deal with knee injuries in the NFL would suggest that we're likely looking at something that will take some time to heal.
If this is indeed the case, this is a huge blow to not only the Packers' chances to finish this season strong, but it's a huge blow to Green Bay's Super Bowl hopes this season.
That's not to say the team can't rally around the loss of Parsons and come together as a unit (especially on defense),b ut he truth of the matter is that the Pack just don't have the juice without Parsons' incredible ability to pass-rush.
The reason the Packers traded for Parsons was because they clearly didn't believe that Rashan Gary and Lukas Van Ness alone could get the job done, and there's a really good chance they'll be right in that assessment.
Of course, it's worth noting that Parsons is a super-freak athlete so there's always a chance it looked worse than what it really is.
For now, though, the Packers seem to be careening toward oblivion with the loss of their star pass-rusher.
