Packers safety Evan Williams went down with an injury on Sunday against the Broncos.

Green Bay Packers safety Evan Williams went down with an MCL sprain against the Denver Broncos and could miss some time.

Williams has been one of the Packers' best defensive players this season and will be a major loss if he's unable to play Saturday against the Chicago Bears.

The 24-year-old safety said he is day-to-day with the MCL sprain. He went down with the injury on the same play that superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons tore his ACL.

Losing two of Green Bay's top defensive players on the same play speaks to how things went in Week 15.

If Williams is ruled out, the Packers will need to make some changes. They could move Javon Bullard back to safety, who has been playing in the slot.

Bullard was drafted as a safety for Green Bay in the second round of the 2024 draft, but Williams beat him out for the safety spot opposite Xavier McKinney.

However, Bullard has thrived in his new role in the slot. In Williams' potential absence, it would make sense to temporarily move Bullard back to the safety position and move cornerback Nate Hobbs into the slot.

Green Bay signed Hobbs to a four-year $48 million contract this offseason to play outside corner. Hobbs struggled with the adjustment and has been benched for Carrington Valentine. Hobbs did play well in the slot during his time with the Las Vegas Raiders.

By making this move, it would put their most talented players on the field, rather than starting a depth safety like Zayne Anderson or Kitan Oladapo.

The Packers will also need defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to get more creative with his defense. In the 2024 season, Green Bay ran more exotic pressures and blitzes, as they didn't have an elite pass rusher like Parsons. Linebackers Quay Walker and Edgerrin Cooper will be key in generating pressure on blitzes.

While the Packers got bad news with the Parsons injury, they should breathe a sigh of relief that Williams' injury isn't long-term. When he gets back on the field, he will look to continue playing at a high level.
