Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is playing at a high level this season.
The Green Bay Packers' offense has been a talking point all season long, as they are a talented group but have been very inconsistent. Between head coach Matt LaFleur's playcalling and the drops from the receivers, the offense hasn't been as dynamic as expected.
The injuries to wide receiver Jayden Reed and tight end Tucker Kraft have also played a factor in Green Bay's offensive struggles.
Despite this, quarterback Jordan Love is having his best season yet and playing at an elite level. On the season, Love has completed 67.7 percent of his passes for 2,421 yards, 15 touchdowns, and three interceptions. The 27-year-old quarterback has also rushed for 145 yards.
In the Packers' win over the New York Giants, he was very impressive. The box store doesn't tell the story, as Love completed 13 of 24 passes for 174 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. These aren't jaw-dropping numbers, but Love is the reason Green Bay won the game.
Love led a touchdown drive as the Packers trailed 20-19 in the fourth quarter. He completed multiple crucial passes, including a 33-yard pass to Savion Williams on third down, a 13-yard strike to Romeo Doubs on 1st and 20, and the 17-yard touchdown pass to Christian Watson.
The advanced numbers back up how well Love played in the win over the Giants. He earned a 93.1 PFF grade, which is the highest of his career.
It hasn't just been this game either, as advanced stats back up Love having an elite season. He ranks first in EPA (expected points added) per play, fifth in quarterback rating, fifth in PFF passing grade, third in EPA plus CPOE (completion percentage over expected) composite, fifth in big time throw percentage, and fourth in adjusted completion percentage.
On Sunday, Love proved this to be true, making the big throws when it mattered despite six drops from his receivers.
If the offense can fix the drops and LaFleur can be more consistent with his playcalling, Love could lead the Packers on a deep playoff run.
Love isn't an MVP candidate, but that is due to the circumstances around him. If the Packers can clean that up, the box score numbers could jump on the stretch run of the season.
