The Green Bay Packers are prepping for a pivotal NFC North showdown against the Chicago Bears this Sunday, and in the lead up to the affair, they have made an intriguing roster move.
The Packers have announced they have signed defensive tackle Jordon Riley off the New York Giants' practice squad, giving the team more bulk in the middle.
Riley stands 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 388 pounds, so he is certainly a space eater. He also trains with Green Bay defensive lineman Colby Wooden during the offseason, and Wooden offered his own scouting report of Riley.
"Jordon’s a heavy-handed guy. He comes from the Giants where they played a lot of shade, a lot of zero," Wooden said, via Packers beat writer Weston Hodkiewicz. "... For him to come in, it’s going to be an easy transition I feel like. He’s a get-along guy. He’s going to be great. He's going to fit right in with us."

Riley was originally selected by the Giants in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He played in eight games during his rookie campaign, logging eight tackles. He then appeared in 13 contests and actually made five starts in 2024, finishing with 12 tackles and three tackles for loss.
The 27-year-old played for three different times on the collegiate level, beginning his NCAA tenure at North Carolina in 2017 before transferring to Nebraska, where he began play in 2020. He spent two years with the Cornhuskers before moving to Oregon in 2022, logging 21 tackles during his lone campaign with the Ducks.
The Packers could definitely use some depth on the interior thanks to Devonte Wyatt's season-ending ankle injury, and while signing someone off a practice squad late in the year is never ideal, Riley is certainly a compelling player because of his size alone.
Green Bay has won three games in a row to improve to 8-3-1, most recently picking up a road win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. The Packers are behind the Bears — who are 9-3 — for first place in the NFC North.
The matchup between Green Bay and Chicago at Lambeau Field this weekend could go a long way in determining the division winner.
