Colin Cowherd has long been known for his "hot takes". Credit to him, too, because he's made a long career out of it. First, on the radio, and then at ESPN and now at FOX Sports. The issue with being a hot take "arist", though, is that sometimes, your big opinion can be wrong. Also, there's very little accountability for what you say, because you're essentially screaming into the void.
Cowherd. Skip Bayless. Stephen A. Smith. That's their gig.
Micah Parsons of the Green Bay Packers took exception to one of Cowherd's recent rants, though. In the aftermath of the Packers' 10-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, Cowherd decided not to criticize a Packers' offense that barely looked like it could put points up on the board, but rather, go after Parsons.
He called out Parsons for not getting a sack or a quarterback hit on Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. This, even though everyone with eyes could see that Parsons was chasing Hurts all over the field on Monday night.
Cowherd also said that he understood why the Cowboys traded Parsons and essentially said that the Packers' star edge-rusher is all splash and no substance.
This is not the NBA, where an amazing dunk, a windmill dunk, can supersede production," Cowherd said. "This is the NFL and Micah's rep has always been...he is a splash player. A remarkable athletic splash player. He's not good against the run."
That was a take that Parsons felt that he had to address, and he did so with a quote-response on X.
"We just held Saquon Barkley to 60 rushing yards, and our only losses have been holding teams to 13 points! Man, sometimes can y’all? Please stfu and enjoy great defense!" Parsons said.
"Why do you think teams come into the games that were going to run the ball on 3rd and long? What effect do you think that is? Please stop giving people’s mics or listening to trash!"

Parsons is right. This was a trash take from Cowherd.
Again, anyone with a lick of football sense could see that Parsons was all over the field on Monday night. He's also much more than a pass-rusher for Green Bay. He's notched 22 total tackles and he, alongside Rashan Gary, lead the Packers in tackles for loss with seven.
Is he peak Gilbert Brown, clogging up running lanes for Jeff Hafley's defense. No, of course not. The Packers didn't trade for Parsons to be a run-stuffer, though. They traded for him so that the could get after quarterbacks in Hafley's scheme, and even after two weeks in a row with no sacks, he still boasts amongst the best pressure numbers in the NFL.
Through through nine games, he has 6.5 sacks, 12 quarterback hurries (which leads the NFL), six quarterback knockdowns and 25 quarterback pressures (third-best in the NFL).
Not only that, but Green Bay's defense as a whole is fifth in the NFL in yards allowed per game at 287.2, sixth in rushing yards allowed per game at 91.8, and seventh in the NFL in points allowed per game at 19.2.
The 5-3-1 Packers have a lot of problems, but Parsons and this defense aren't one of them.
What a terrible take on Parsons and this Green Bay defense from Cowherd.
