The Green Bay Packers are being pushed to make a significant Matt LaFleur decision.

Green Bay Packers fans are not exactly happy with head coach Matt LaFleur based on the way the team has played the last two weeks. The Packers lost to the Cleveland Browns in Week 3, and they coughed up 40 points in a tie against the Dallas Cowboys this past Sunday.

As a result, some are wondering if LaFleur could potentially be in danger of losing his job in Green Bay if the team ends up having a disappointing campaign. The Packers were supposed to be Super Bowl contenders, after all, especially after adding Micah Parsons.

However, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic has put things into perspective and actually feels Green Bay should extend LaFleur if it were forced to make a decision.

"I received a couple of questions about LaFleur’s job status, so I’ll tackle them in one answer here. If I were [Ed] Policy and had to make a decision tomorrow, yes, I would extend LaFleur," Schneidman wrote. "Think of it like this. If the Packers fired LaFleur, how many teams would take him over their current head coach? The answer is probably a lot. That, in part, should tell the Packers not to fire him."

Packers fans surely are not going to like that right now. LaFleur has made a series of questionable moves over the last couple of games, and while the players on the field are ultimately responsible for their performance, LaFleur hasn't necessarily helped.

However, since taking over as Green Bay's head coach in 2019, LaFleur has gone 69-34-1, making the playoffs in five of his first six seasons in the tundra. That includes three NFC North division titles. The problem, though, is that the Packers are just 3-5 in the playoffs under LaFleur.

Green Bay is hungry for its first Super Bowl appearance since February 2011, and there have been serious questions as to whether or not LaFleur is capable of taking the Packers there.

"If the Packers play the last three quarters of the season like they have the first quarter (wildly inconsistently), sneak into the playoffs and bow out early in Year 3 of the Jordan Love era, is it possible Policy doesn’t think LaFleur is the guy to take the Packers from good to great? Sure. I would be surprised, but it’s possible," Schneidman added.

Given how talented the Packers are on paper, it truly would be a massive failure if they didn't at least make a deep postseason run this winter. But would that cost LaFleur his job? Probably not.
