Revealing the Super Bowl-Winning QB Every NFL GM Would Take Jordan Love Over cover image

Forget hype. One GM's bold claim: NFL GMs universally prefer Jordan Love over a Super Bowl MVP. Is the Green Bay Packers' star quarterback truly elite?

If you haven't been paying attention, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been playing elite football as of late.

Yes, he threw one ugly interception early on in Green Bay's massive win over the Chicago Bears, but Love has largely been playing clean football in 2025. While he's not turning the ball over much, he's also seemingly amplified his abilities as a gunslinger.

He's not the perfect meld of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, because that wouldn't be fair for the rest of the NFL. He is sure getting darn close to that MVP level that Packers fans have come to expect from their quarterbacks, though.

Love has thrown for 3,028 yards and 22 touchdowns this season compared to just four interceptions. His QBR of 73.0 is second amongst all NFL quarterbacks behind only Dak Prescott. His passer rating of 105.4 is behind only Matthew Stafford (113.1), Drake Maye (111.9) and Jared Goff (110.2).

That's undoubtedly why talking head Colin Cowherd said in recent segment that Love is underappreciated by most NFL fans. Cowherd feels that most young quarterbacks get "crowned" too soon, but for some reason, Love hasn't gotten the hype that he deserves.

This is despite the fact that Love checks all the boxes you'd want to see out of a franchise quarterback in this league.

Heck,  Cowherd revealed that he was speaking to an NFL general manager recently and asked that person if they'd rather have Love or Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts if both were available.

"Every GM in the league would take Jordan Love," that general manager reportedly said.

That's an incredible statement of confidence in Love, because despite his flaws, let's not forget that Hurts has won a Super Bowl and he was also named Super Bowl MVP for his performance in Philadelphia's Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Eagles won that game, 40-22, and Hurts completed 17-of-22 passes for 221 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while also rushing for 72 yards and a score.

Hurts is a top-level quarterback, but that's exactly the type of quarterback that Love is too.

Perhaps the reason he doesn't get the credit he deserves is because of the back-to-back Hall of Fame shoes that he has to fill.

If he was playing the same way as quarterback of the Carolina Panthers, for instance, perhaps he'd be hailed a superstar and the next greatest NFL quarterback.

Cowherd sees it a bit differently.

He seems to believe the only thing Love has yet to do is go on a Favre or Rodgers-esque "heater".

The 9-3-1 Packers will get a chance to pick up their fifth win in a row this weekend in a massive clash with the 11-2 Denver Broncos. This is Love's chance to turn up the heat in a big moment, and you get the sense that Cowherd completely believes that he's the right quarterback for the job.

"[He has] everything I want in my quarterback.," Cowherd said. "Grateful. Humble. Hat on forward. Adult. Aggressive but doesn't take unnecessary risks. He is the one quarterback in the league that's great, but nobody will crown him. He's tremendous."
