The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly interested in free agent Bo Bichette.

The Philadelphia Phillies have added a few pieces to their roster for the 2026 season, such as Adolis Garcia and Brad Keller, but that’s still not enough to get the team over the hump to be a World Series threat next year.

However, it appears that Dave Dombrowski and the Phillies organization have their eyes set on one of the top-tier free agents who’s still on the market.

MLB insider Jon Heyman reported on Saturday evening that Philadelphia is one of the contenders to sign Bo Bichette.

“The Phillies are among a number of big-market teams to have interest in Bo Bichette, an ultra young (27) free agent,” wrote Heyman on X.

Given that Bichette is only 27, he still has his prime years ahead of him, making a perfect win-now signing and a future face of a franchise.

Understandably, the Phillies aren’t the only team that has interest in Bichette. Heyman also reported that the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and Boston Red Sox are in on the star free agent. The Toronto Blue Jays are also interested in bringing Bichette back.

An interesting piece of all of this is that the former Blue Jays coach and baseball legend, Don Mattingly, is rumored to be in line to be Philadelphia’s next bench coach. Bichette and Mattingly reportedly have a good relationship with one another, which could only add another layer to Heyman’s report.

If Bichette does end up on the Phillies next season, it’d cause quite a ripple effect. He’d likely slide in at second base with Trae Turner at shortstop, which would force Bryson Stott somewhere else. Would the Phillies move the breakout candidate to third base, and if so, what happens to Alec Bohm?

There are many pieces to sort through, but adding Bichette would certainly make the Phillies a better overall team. The right-handed hitter is coming off a stellar season in which he logged a .311/.357/.483 slash line, including 18 home runs and 44 doubles.

If the Phillies are able to sign Bichette, they’d immediately become one of the top contenders in the National League and would likely put themselves on the same tier as the Los Angeles Dodgers.
