The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to terms with a two-time All-Star outfielder.

The Philadelphia Phillies entered the offseason in desperate need of outfield help, and they just found some.

Francys Romero of BesibolFR.com has reported that the Phillies have signed two-time All-Star outfielder Adolis Garcia to a one-year contract.

Garcia spent the the last five seasons with the Texas Rangers and is coming off of a 2025 campaign in which he slashed .227/.271/.394 with 19 home runs and 75 RBI over 547 plate appearances. He was non-tendered by the Rangers after the campaign.

Obviously, this may not be the type of player Philadelphia was hoping to get, but it's entirely possible that Garcia was just a depth addition, and there is reason to believe that he could potentially recapture some of his prior magic.

After all, Garcia is just three seasons removed from smashing 39 homers to go along with 107 RBI, posting an .836 OPS and clobbering eight long balls while driving in 22 runs in the Rangers' playoff run to a World Series title.

The 32-year-old entered the big leagues with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2018 but eventually made his way to Texas in 2020.

Garcia played his first full season in 2021, slashing .243/.286/.454 with 31 dingers and 90 RBI. He then slashed .250/.300/.456 with 27 home runs and 101 RBI in 2022.

Lifetime, the Cuban native owns a .237/.293/.441 slash line. Clearly, Garcia is not a big on-base guy, and he strikes out quite a bit. However, he does have some pop, which is definitely what the Phillies need behind Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper.

On top of that, Garcia is a fantastic outfielder. He won a Gold Glove in 2023 and managed a plus-16 DRS this past season. Outside of one bad defensive year in 2024, Garcia has been an elite outfielder for his entire career.

The Phillies will almost surely make some other moves, but there is a chance that Garcia could ultimately be a steal on a one-year deal.

Philadelphia has already re-signed Schwarber to a $150 million pact, so it may not have the money to spend on Kyle Tucker or Cody Bellinger, but the Phillies will almost certainly be perusing the market for other options. Perhaps a trade could occur, too.
