On Friday night, MLB.com officially unveiled its 2026 preseason list of top prospects, and Sebastian Walcott once again received big praise.

Ever since Sebastian Walcott signed with the Texas Rangers as an international free agent on January 15th, 2023, he has wasted no time flying through the organization’s ranks.

The 19-year-old Bahamian has not only impressed within the Rangers organization but has also become one of the best prospects in all of baseball.

On Friday night, MLB.com officially unveiled its 2026 preseason list of top prospects, and Walcott once again received big praise.

Walcott will slot in as the number seven prospect in all of Major League Baseball and the only Ranger to crack the top 100.

Last season, Walcott was one of the youngest players in all of Double-A as he played 124 games with Frisco, hitting .255 with an on-base percentage of .355 and a slugging percentage of .386, along with 13 home runs and 59 RBI.

When camp breaks this season, Walcott will likely make his Triple-A debut with Round Rock as he continues to knock on the door of the big leagues.

This year could wind up being the year that Rangers fans see Walcott in the big leagues for the first time.

Rangers President of Baseball Operations Chris Young acknowledged that it would be exciting for the fans and organization if this is the year for Walcott, and he hopes that is in fact the case.

Still, both Young and Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker are in no way wanting to rush Walcott to the big leagues.

One of the big things to watch for as camp begins is which position the Rangers choose to get Walcott reps at.

At the big league level, Walcott obviously is blocked by Corey Seager at shortstop, but certainly has the arm to play third base.

It’ll be worth watching to see if Walcott’s potential success could have an impact on the way Josh Jung is viewed by the organization long term.

Walcott certainly seems as if he has the defensive ability to sucessed a second base as well. It’ll also be worth noting if the Rangers feel like first base or a corner outfield spot is on the table for him.

No matter where he plays, Walcott projects to be an impact player at the big league level who features a rare combination of power and speed.

There’s no doubt that Walcott looks to be a big part of the Rangers' organizational successes both now and far into the future.
