An exciting weekend of competition in North Platte, Nebraska produced big wins across the board, including a three-time Buffalo Bill Rodeo bareback bronc riding champion.

The world’s largest outdoor rodeo is gearing up for its 129th run in July 2026. This rodeo is one that cowboys and cowgirls from across the country work for months to compete in. The rosters have been adjusted over the past few weeks as athlete qualifications were finalized. After the Buffalo Bill Rodeo in North Platte, Nebraska, the Cheyenne Frontier Days rosters are complete and ready for the big event in just a few short weeks.

Although competitors are celebrating that monumental accomplishment – and rightfully so – the historic Buffalo Bill Rodeo was, in itself, a weekend packed with excitement and achievement across the board.

One of the most notable wins of this event was in the Bareback Bronc Riding, where Nebraska cowboy Garret Shadbolt won his third Buffalo Bill Rodeo title. His impressive 87.5-point ride swept the scene on the event’s very first night, holding strong through all 27 competing bronc riders to officially secure him the title after the event’s conclusion on June 20th.

Steer Wrestling also boasted a well-known champion as the event winner: 2020 World Champion steer wrestler Jacob Elder, who claimed the event title with a two-head aggregate score of 11.3 seconds. This was truly an impressive weekend for Elder and a well-deserved win.
