The Minnesota Timberwolves were in hot pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo at the NBA trade deadline, as they ended up coming up short as the Milwaukee Bucks opted to keep their two-time MVP till at least the offseason. Therefore, the team pivoted, added Ayo Dosunmu to improve their bench.

While Dosunmu will certainly improve the team's bench, the reality is that this roster continues to lack consistency and focus at times this season. After a strong win on the road against the Toronto Raptors, they followed it up with a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. And on Sunday, they keep trending downward.

Clippers Hand Timberwolves Second-Straight Loss

Looking to bounce back against a Los Angeles Clippers team without their three new trade acquisitions after trading away two of their three best players, Kawhi Leonard's 41 points led the Clippers past the Timberwolves 115-96.

A poor shooting performance from the Timberwolves, who shot just 24% from three-point range, Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle couldn't do enough to lift their team to a win.

They did get 11 points from Dosunmu in his debut, but it was clear that even outside of their new additions, this team's chemistry has seemed off.

“Yeah, we gotta get our offense kinda goin’ here, we had a lot of turnovers tonight, you know, we gotta get some kind of rhythm and speed to our offense," head coach Chris Finch said of the team's chemistry.

The Timberwolves had 20 turnovers against the Clippers, with LA getting 11 steals, with Rudy Gobert and Edwards each having five turnovers.

"I think the guys are, not kind of, included enough in the offense, I think we get some connectivity from that, but, you know, we don’t have a great spirit about us right now, we gotta pick it up and, you know, try to finish these last two games strong before the break, and yeah, it’s apparent," Finch added.

The Timberwolves have been one of the streakiest teams in the NBA this season. Just when it starts to get good for them, it goes downhill, and when it starts to get really bad, they turn things around.

After making the Western Conference Finals the past two seasons, it's evident that the goal is to make the NBA Finals with this roster.

They have the talent to do so, but the lack of consistency they've shown in the regular season leads many to believe the Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, and San Antonio Spurs all have the upper hand on them as of now.

There's still plenty of time before the postseason, so perhaps the All-Star break is exactly what this team needs to dial in and start finding some consistency on the court.
