Kimi Antonelli Wins the Canada GP, Continues to Dominate the Season

Race start

Mercedes dominated the day. George Russel and Kimi Antonelli exchanged positions 1 and 2 for the majority of the race. 

Max Vertsppen stalked from the P3 and waited patiently. He found his opportunity while Kimi and George battled in the chicanes, but the Mercedes duo closed the door on him.

Lap 24

Antonelli locked up in the hairpin turn, and George Russel overtakes him, but after some battling back and forth, Russel gives the lead back to Antonelli. 

Alonso and the Aston Martin car retire early due to a seat malfunction.

The race isn't even halfway, and the racing has been nothing short of thrilling.

Lap 30 

On lap 30, George Russell retired from the race, stopping on the track. This was his first DNF since 2024 at his home race in Silverstone.

Lando Norris retires from the race due to engine complications

Lap 43

Sergio Perez suffers right-tire damage and receives his second DNF of the season.

Oscar Piastri receives a 10-second  penalty for an earlier collision with Albon

Lap 57

Hamilton and Verstappen battle for second. Max successfully defends P2.

Kimi Antonelli has a commanding lead at this point in the race.

Lap 62

Lewis Hamilton overtakes Max Verstappen at the 1st corner, putting him in P2. Hamilton puts on a masterclass of overtaking. 

Charles Leclerc is safely in P4

Final laps

Antonelli has a commanding lead, says well ahead of the grid to win the Canada Grand Prix
