A's Option Kade Morris

Last night's slugfest in Las Vegas has led to the team searching for a fresh arm. On Monday night, the team used six different pitchers, and three of those six were pitching for a second consecutive day. 

The only two that were not used were Elvis Alvarado, who threw 44 pitches in Houston on Saturday, and Mason Barnett, who tossed 64 pitches in relief on Friday. 

The arm the A's are going with is starter Joey Estes, who will likely serve as the team's long man for Tuesday night, and potentially moving forward. To make room for him, Kade Morris was optioned back to Triple-A Las Vegas after a tough MLB debut in Houston. 

Morris allowed nine earned runs on nine hits and three walks in four innings on Saturday, while Barnett came on in relief and tossed four scoreless innings, giving up a hit and two walks while striking out seven. It was a solid outing that still left a couple of questions to be answered. 

The exact role for Estes has not been disclosed just yet, but if the A's need innings in another high-scoring affair, expect to see him be the first one out of the bullpen and stay in the game as long as possible. 

With the off-day on Thursday, the A's could choose to roll with a four-man rotation for the time being, allowing them to have an extra long-man in the bullpen while they're in Las Vegas.
