A's starter Luis Severino surrendered four runs in the top of the first inning to the New York Yankees on Friday night. Then, after coming out in the second inning to warm up, he left with a trainer. In the third inning, the A’s announced that he left with right arm soreness.
Also worth noting that Severino was supposed to start Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners, but following the injury to Aaron Civale on Monday night, the A's decided to call up No. 3 prospect Gage Jump to start that Tuesday matchup.
With the Mariners struggling against left-handers this season, Springs still made his scheduled start on Wednesday as well. There was no report of an existing issue for Severino coming into Friday.
