The Athletics recalled left-handed pitcher Joe Rock from Triple-A Las Vegas and placed left-handed pitcher Gage Jump on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Sept. 13 with a left shoulder impingement, the club announced today.

Rock began the season at Triple-A Durham in the Rays organization, was traded to the White Sox on May 19 for infielder Oliver Dunn and assigned to Triple-A Charlotte, was designated for assignment on Aug. 14, and claimed off waivers by the A’s and optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Aug. 16.  He combined to go 1-1 with two saves, a 5.44 ERA and .808 opponents OPS in 32 games, including six starts in the minors.  The 26-year-old right-hander struck out 61 and walked 37 in 43.0 innings.  Rock also compiled a 3.48 ERA in four appearances with the White Sox from June 9-24.

Jump made both his Triple-A and Major League debuts in his second professional season this year.  He was selected from Triple-A Las Vegas on May 26 and went 6-11 with a 5.47 ERA and .782 opponents OPS in 20 appearances, all starts, with the A’s.  The 23-year-old left-hander struck out 108 batters, which is fourth most in Athletics history by a pitcher over his first 20 career games.
