Former A's Reliever Lands with Kansas City

Scott Barlow has returned to the Kansas City Royals on a minor-league deal after the A's designated him for assignment on June 21.
The A's signed Barlow to a one-year, $2 million deal at the beginning of February, and he made 36 appearances for the green and gold, posting a 6.48 ERA across 33 ⅓ innings.
While his overall numbers weren't great, his home/road splits were the main reason this didn't work out.
Pitching in either Sutter Health Park in Sacramento or Las Vegas Ballpark — both locations where the A's have been the home team in 2026 — Barlow held a 12.64 ERA, compared to 1.02 on the road.
Barlow spent the first six years of his career with the Royals, holding a 3.39 ERA in over 300 innings with the club.
