The Toronto Blue Jays are coming off their most successful season in over three decades.
The Blue Jays won the American League pennant for the first time since 1993. It failed to secure the World Series title, but came the closest its had since the 92-93 teams, which won the championship both seasons.
One of the most iconic players from those seasons, Joe Carter, will have a statue unveiled on July 18 before a game between Toronto and the Chicago White Sox. The image of the statue will be Carter's walk-off home run in Game 6 of the World Series in '93.
Carter's statue will replace the one currently existing between Gates 5 and 6 at the Rogers Centre, a statue of previous owner Edward "Ted" Rogers. The existing statue will move to a corporate office.
