Blue Jays have another pitcher putting up big numbers at High-A
Remember last season, when Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Trey Yesavage moved from Class-A Dunedin to High-A Vancouver to Double-A New Hampshire to Triple-A Buffalo and to Toronto?
The Blue Jays have another top-flight pitching prospect in 19-year-old left-hander Johnny King, the No. 3-ranked player in the organization by MLB Pipeline, following two young shortstops.
We're not predicting he will land in the Blue Jays' rotation by September, but he is putting up some Yesavage-like numbers. Toronto selected him out of high school in the third round of the 2024 MLB Draft, in which Yesavage was the club's first-round pick.
King's current stats at High-A Vancouver: eight games with an 0-1 record, 0.99 ERA. He has struck out 38 batters and allowed 14 hits in 27.1 innings, and opponents are hitting .147 against him.
MLB.com projects a 2028 arrival for King in Toronto.
