Brewers Add Insurance Run in Seventh Inning vs. Rays
Oct 24, 2026 2:39 AM
The Tampa Bay Rays decided to keep Steven Matz on the mound for a second inning, and the leadoff walk he allowed would come back to haunt him.
Despite Sal Frelick and David Hamilton being retired, manager Kevin Cash opted to pull Matz for Kevin Kelly, with Milwaukee Brewers leadoff hitter Jackson Chourio coming up to the plate.
Chourio wasted no time, crushing the first pitch for a hit down the first-base line. Pratt came around to score, and that gave the Brewers a massive insurance run as they now lead 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh.
