Alec Burleson homers in fourth straight game for Cards

As the temperatures are heating up around the country, Alec Burleson is similarly heating up for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Burleson homered in a fourth straight game on Friday night by drilling a Joe Ryan fastball 414 feet and halfway up the upper deck. Burleson's 12th homer of the season left the bat at 108.8 mph and was a no-doubter of a homer.

Burleson is the first Cardinals player to homer in at least four straight games since Nolan Arenado homered in five straight from May 12-16, 2023.

Earlier this week, Burleson became the first Cardinals player in franchise history to homer in all games of a three-game or four-game series against the Mets in New York. He homered in games Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday -- two of which were wins for the Cardinals.

A notoriously slow starter, Burleson joked earlier in the season that his power surge would likely come "when the temperatures hit 100 (degrees) in St. Louis." He hit a go-ahead homer on Opening Day and then went 13 games before homering again. He exited April with four homers and hit three more in May. Already, he's hit four homers in May.
