It was May 7, 2025, when a future Olympic gold medalist took the field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. It was Alysa Liu, who skated a flawless long program on Thursday to win the ladies' figure skating competition at the Milan Cortina Olympics.

Alyssa became the first American woman to claim the gold medal in the event since Sarah Hughes did it at the Salt Lake City Games in 2002.

It was her second gold medal of these Winter Olympics, having been part of the U.S. group that won the team competition.

Congratulations, Alysa!
