STL Cardinals Acquire Lefty Reliever Eduardo Rivera from Red Sox
Nov 3, 2026 4:53 PM
The St. Louis Cardinals made their first trade of the offseason on Tuesday, dealing for left-handed reliever Eduardo Rivera from the Boston Red Sox.
The Cardinals dealt right-banded reliever Juan Garcia to land Rivera.
Rivera has moved between the bullpen and rotation in the Red Sox system the recent years. He ended the 2026 season on the IL with a back strain. He struck out 10 hitters in his first 10 big league innings in 2025, but walks have been a major issue for him.
More on this trade to come throughout the day.
