The biggest topic of conversation among Chicago Cubs fans all summer was whether to sign Kyle Tucker to a huge deal and be a Cub forever. But as the year played out, it seemed to make sense that the Cubs were better off moving on without him.

It turns out that it was probably a good thing. There's too much drama around the Tucker free agency trail, and it's still not over. The latest thing is a potential deal with the New York Mets but there's no guarantee he'll sign it.

The Cubs used that money to sign Alex Bregman to play third base on a five-year, $175 million deal. That could have been Tucker money, but they are better off here.
