The Chicago Cubs announced that Ben Brown will start against the Texas Rangers in Friday's series opener. This will be Brown's first start of the season, as he started the season in the Cubs' bullpen.

It'll be interesting to see how Brown fares in Friday's start. He had a 6.30 ERA in 15 starts last year, but his numbers have looked good in the bullpen this season.

This is likely an abbreviated start for Brown, as he is not fully built up yet as a starter. Still, this outing could be the beginning of getting him more chances as a starter amid a breakout campaign.
