Did you know that the Cubs marquee used to be blue?
1934: The marquee was installed, commissioned by the Federated Sign Company of Chicago. Its original color was a shade called “Mallard Green” with gold trim.
Within a year or two of installation it was repainted dark blue, moving away from the green.
By 1939: The wording changed from “Home of the Cubs” to “Home of Chicago Cubs,” and the marquee remained the dark blue.
1965: The marquee was repainted the famous red.
