The Chicago Cubs are actively looking for a frontline starter this offseason. They are reportedly interested in several different pitchers, which could include some pitchers who could be available via trade.
Both MacKenzie Gore and Edward Cabrera could be moved this offseason. But the asking prices for both of those pitchers likely increased after what the Orioles gave up for Shane Baz on Friday afternoon.
The Orioles gave up their No. 6 prospect, No. 10 prospect, No. 11 prospect, No. 30 prospect, and a Competitive Balance Round A Draft Pick for Baz. That's a lot for a pitcher coming off a subpar year in 2025.
So, this recent trade could affect the Cubs' pursuit of both Gore and Cabrera.
