The Cubs had three players win Gold Glove awards yesterday in PCA, Ian Happ and Nico Hoerner. It's an award that really should take on added meaning in the WAR-era.

The fanbase has a right to complain -- to an extent. Have the Cubs spent as much money in pursuit of a World Series as they should? Maybe not. Does it feel like acquiring top-of-the-line starting pitching has been neglected to an extent? Yes.

But the Cubs are a solid organization with a good handle on modern baseball strategy and roster construction. They prioritize defense. They have players who can hit the ball out of the ball park. There are many fans who root for teams stuck in a different century. Chicago is not one of them.
