Cubs GM Carter Hawkins seems to be committed to adding pitching this offseason, and that's the right call. Does it mean they won't add to the offense at all? Of course not. But the primary investment SHOULD be in pitching.
Shota may or may not be back. Justin Steele is coming off injury. Cade Horton is great, but he's young, and hitters may start to figure him out. If Chicago should have taken anything away from this year's playoff run, it's that elite, front-line starting pitching is incredibly important.
Sure, Tucker is gone, and they need to replace that offensive production. But the Cubs have talented hitters, and a clear focus on adding pitching makes sense for this ball club.
