Chicago Cubs pitcher Matthew Boyd made his first appearance in the World Baseball Classic on Monday night against Mexico. However, the southpaw didn't have his best stuff on the mound.

He allowed three runs on five hits with three strikeouts across 2 1/3 innings pitched. Boyd was the only pitcher from Team USA to allow runs in Monday's win.

Hopefully, these types of outings don't boil over into the regular season. Boyd is looking to replicate his 2025 success on the mound, in which he made his first All-Star appearance.
