Amid all the Edward Cabrera news on Wednesday afternoon, it was announced that Chicago Cubs pitcher Jameson Taillon will be playing for Team Canada in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

Taillon is coming off a solid all-around campaign in 2025, where he finished with a 3.68 ERA and 98 strikeouts across 129 2/3 innings pitched. That marked the second straight season in which he finished with a sub-3.70 ERA.

Taillon marks the third Cubs pitcher who will be playing in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. Shota Imanaga will represent Team Japan, Matthew Boyd will pitch for Team USA, and Taillon will be pitching for Team Canada.
