Chicago Cubs pitcher Javier Assad wasn't present on the first day of pitchers and catchers reporting on Wednesday. Manager Craig Counsell said Assad was dealing with some visa issues.
However, it looks like Assad got that all figured out. The right-hander was seen throwing on Saturday afternoon at Cubs camp.
Assad is looking to stay healthy this spring after missing the start of the 2025 season due to an oblique strain. He first suffered that oblique strain back on February 11 of last season.
While his role remains up in the air for 2026, he should be a key part of this Cubs team at some point.
