Japanese slugger Kazuma Okamoto could have been a nice fit for the Chicago Cubs. He plays both third base and first base and would give the Cubs a potential impactful bat in their lineup for 2026 and beyond.

However, Okamoto has signed a multi-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. It is reported that Okamoto signed a four-year, $60 million deal with no opt outs included.

With this latest signing, another potential Cubs free-agent target is off the board.
