The Chicago Cubs are always looking for ways to save some money. That could be the case with free agent pitcher Zac Gallen this offseason. 

Gallen is clearly in the second tier or third tier of free agent pitchers, with Framber Valdez, Tatsuya Imai, Ranger Suarez, and Michael King all likely better targets for most. Those pitchers will likely cost more money to sign than Gallen. 

However, Gallen is a perfect example of a high-risk, high-reward pitcher. He'll cost less than those options above, but has the potential to bounce back following a career-worst season.
