If there's one thing we know to be true in the modern era of baseball, it's that hitting the ball hard is the best way to score runs. The numbers speak for themselves. We're seeing more of the three true outcomes because players are trying to hit home runs, and this is happening because organizations know it's key to winning.
How do you hit the ball hard? Well, you swing the bat hard. And that's exactly what rookie Cubs outfielder Owen Caissie did in 2025. He led the Cubbies in bat speed at 74.8 MPH, ahead of stars like Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong.
Caissie was a top prospect, and he still has a very high ceiling. His traditional stats may not jump off the page, but big things are likely coming.
