When the Chicago Cubs first called up Pete Crow-Armstrong in 2023, the speedy outfielder decided to wear No. 52 on his uniform. He then wore that No. 52 all throughout the 2024 season.
But then he changed to No. 4 after losing a bet to President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer. The bet was that if Hoyer made a shot from where he was standing, Crow-Armstrong had to change his number.
Hoyer then made the shot, and Crow-Armstrong had to change his number.
It's a good thing that Hoyer made that shot because No. 4 definitely suits Crow-Armstrong better.
