Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts steered clear of using closer Edwin Díaz in the Dodgers' 6-3 series victory against the Texas Rangers on Saturday night.

That was primarily due to some changes in his velocity that were noticeable in his outing on Friday, April 10.

Diaz spoke to the media ahead of Sunday's afternoon game and said that his command dropping at the beginning of the season is common.

He continued by saying that, since injuring his knee in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, he's noticed a change in velocity on his fastball at the start of the season, but assured everyone that it would tick back up to normal as the season goes on.
